What you'll do

As a Technical Consultant, you will have project responsibilities for configuring Aptitude products and performing any necessary client specific customisations. You will be part of a larger team of consultants and client/partner resources working under the guidance of senior colleagues. You will take ownership of certain tasks, interacting with client personnel where necessary, whilst maintaining a strong delivery focus. You will be expected to follow best practices, as defined by senior colleagues, to ensure that the quality of our delivery is fit for purpose.

With support from others, in this role you will gain a good understanding of the Aptitude product(s) capabilities, liaising with project colleagues to match client requirements onto those capabilities. A key part of your role is to proactively continue your own personal development (keeping yourself updated with relevant knowledge and skills) as well as developing your understanding of how to best approach project work.

The role will either be performed remotely or, in future, on client premises for a proportion of the time so significant travel (in-country and/or overseas) may be required of you.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have the following skills & experience:

  • Ability to rapidly gain a full understanding of the project stream that you are assigned to, understanding the tasks and timescales required.
  • Can take responsibility for completing tasks to the required quality and seeking guidance where necessary.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of ETL and RDBMS concepts and can apply them with support.
  • Ability to become a capable practitioner of the Aptitude Product(s) being used, with a broad knowledge of the complete suite of Aptitude Products.
  • Looks for opportunities to broaden skills outside of the core Products, such as UNIX shell scripting.
  • Demonstrates an understanding in the following disciplines: management of source code, performing automated build and testing, allocating development tasks in an agile setting.
  • Demonstrates an evidence-based approach to investigating & resolving defects.
  • Ensures defect occurrences are minimized by developing effective unit-test strategies.
