Team building through perseverance and a focus on wellness

Aptitude Software celebrated our sixth year participating in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge (JPMCC) 5K race – with many offices entering their largest teams to date!

Each year, the Aptitude Social Committee for each region helps to recruit members, design and print team t-shirts, and plan the post-race celebration.

Why fitness challenges are important at Aptitude

What started as a fun challenge for a few dedicated runners in our London office six years ago, has developed into an annual event that highlights Aptitude’s focus on employee well being. Aptitude offers employees wellness programs that focus on mindfulness, healthy eating, physical fitness, and work-life balance. The JPMCC run fits well into our company wellness philosophy and provides an excellent opportunity for people to form new relationships and bond over building and maintaining fitness.

JP Morgan Corporate Challenge Regional Recap

The London, Boston, Singapore and San Francisco offices all took part in the 33rd JPMCC in teams of accomplished runners, walkers, and ‘happy to finish’ participators.

Singapore

In Singapore, our team had the largest participation to date from the quickly growing office! The runners enjoyed the race as they ran past some of the best of Singapore’s landmark features and crossed the finish line into the Singapore F1 pit lane.

San Francisco

In San Francisco, alongside 10,500 other runners representing 389 companies, the team was cheered over the starting line by NBA Golden State Warriors champion, Steph Curry. With beautiful sunset views of the bay and bay bridge, the race ended with a look inside the brand-new Chase Center along with free food and beer for runners!

London

Twenty-two runners from our London office ran alongside a huge crowd of 15,000 runners. The London event is actually split into two nights to accommodate the large numbers (over 30,000) who have been appearing at Battersea Park, annually, for 33 years! Our fastest runner, once again, was Alliance Manager Ana Ronkov, with Barry Walsh from Professional Services taking the London office men’s title.

Boston

In Boston, our team participated for the second year running. Running through the city is a good chance to enjoy the beautiful historic streets that surround the office.  This team has also participated in other charity runs and even the occasional marathon!

Voted most active office – Wroclaw, Poland

The JPMCC 5K run hasn’t yet reached Wroclaw, Poland and so this office participates in a slightly different athletic challenge. It is worth noting that in our global employee 4-month fitness challenge, the Poland office has collectively traveled an amazing distance of over 23,000 kilometers – so we all know they are fitness challenge ready!

As you would expect, the teams didn’t just select one challenge – they decided to tackle two challenges! The first was a relay triathlon and the second, a team 5k run just for IT industry folks – Run for IT. The relay triathlon consisted of 3 teams of 3 people (see the picture below.) Each team needed to complete a 950 m swim, 45 km bike ride and a 10.5 km run. They had fun and inspired others in the office to want to be more active. So much so that the Wroclaw Social Committee decided to hire a professional trainer and offer a Monday running club for the office.
