What you'll do and what we offer

Senior Technical Consultant

You will be joining the team as a self-motivated technical consultant who has experience working on data integration projects, preferably within the Finance Accounting sector. 

You will be working on a variety of software implementation projects within a team environment with visibility to the client. This will involve working alongside a client and/or partner delivery resources, providing technical oversight to ensure the successful integration of Aptitude products into the client environment. Ultimately, you will be working in a team that is responsible for data integration required to ingest or extract data from Aptitude applications and ensure that the software is configured correctly in accordance with the client requirements. 

Aptitude applications primarily follow a SaaS delivery model although you may be required to support on-premise installations. With support from others, you will also identify, and report risks to senior colleagues to ensure the team is consistently striving to deliver value to all parties. 

The role will require you to take ownership of complex technical challenges and make sound technical decisions. Good communication skills are essential, together with the oral and written ability to represent Aptitude Software, sometimes being the sole representative.

Where You Will Be:

  • This role is based from our London office and we support hybrid working 

  • To us at Aptitude, hybrid working means that our employees come together for 2-days per week at their local office. It’s an opportunity for our teams to collaborate, solve problems together and to be engaged and involved in the wider community of our business. 

  • We ask employees to come into the office every Wednesday and give you the flexibility to choose your other day


What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have the following skills & experience: 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, business related discipline or similar with at least 5 -7 years’ experience.

Consultancy: 

  • Can quickly gain a full understanding of the project streams that you are assigned to, with the capability to assess, report and recommend risk mitigation 

  • Perform Aptitude Software product installation and upgrades. 

  • Perform and guide colleagues according to best practice 

  • Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to technical development staff (both client or delivery partner) to whom the solution will be transitioned at project completion. 

  • Provide documentation in the form of detail designs, configuration guides and operational runbooks 

 

Technical: 

  • Demonstrate an understanding RDBMS concepts and an evolving knowledge of the fundamentals of developing database-centric applications. Knowledge of SQL is essential, exposure to Oracle, Postgres, PL/SQL is beneficial. 

  • Demonstrate practical experience in ETL/data integration and REST API development, with exposure to integration tools such as Boomi, MuleSoft, n8n, Informatica or similar. Exposure to Python would be advantageous. 

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud architecture, with practical experience of cloud infrastructure, storage, databases and networking services. 

  • Demonstrate an awareness of data security and privacy principles, including PII, PHI and GDPR, with practical experience of applying appropriate security controls when designing and implementing data integrations and cloud-based solutions. 

  • Can develop into a capable practitioner of the Aptitude products being used and build a broad knowledge of our complete product suite 

Software Development Life Cycle: 

  • Demonstrate a practical experience of following disciplines: 
    o Management of source code 
    o Performing automated build and testing 
    o Allocating development tasks in an agile setting 

  • Demonstrate practical experience working within a software development lifecycle (SDLC), with exposure to associated tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, Git, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy or similar technologies. 

Testing and Defect Resolution: 

  • Demonstrate an evidence-based approach to investigating & resolving defects 

  • Ensures defect occurrences are minimized by developing effective unit-test strategies
