Achieving new heights: A look back at Aptitude’s first year as a Microsoft partner

February 7, 2024
Posted by Sarah Werner

This time last year (January 2023) we announced our formal partnership with Microsoft and the integration of Fynapse, our intelligent finance data management and accounting platform, with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.

As we look back over the last year, it felt fitting to celebrate all that we achieved with the Microsoft team and look ahead to some exciting events and announcements!

2023 – A year in review

Full technology integration: We worked closely with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations engineering and product team to complete the full solution integration. This deep integration provides clients with a single source of truth for financial data to accelerate close processes, improve compliance and enhance audit controls.

Joint clients: We welcomed our first joint clients including:

  • A North American Asset Management firm – we’ll be supporting their transition to a modern finance architecture on an accelerated timeline, in partnership with KPMG
  • A large European Financial Services organization with both insurance and banking divisions
  • A North American media and gaming provider

With a strong and growing global pipeline, we are looking forward to announcing our next joint wins soon.

Azure deployable and transactable: We achieved important milestones such as certifying Fynapse as deployable on Microsoft Azure and getting listed on AppSource and as fully transactable via the Azure Marketplace. Fynapse can be sold alongside Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or alone as an accounting rules engine and subledger platform that can connect with any ERP.

Worked with Microsoft leaders: We’ve had the chance to interact with exceptionally smart, talented people at Microsoft. This included interviewing Georg Glantschnig, VP Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and April Olson, Head of Product, on their perspectives and vision for the finance function and joining Brian Galicia on his ISV Success Live LinkedIn webinar on the partnership and our joint solution. We also co-hosted a recent webinar with Josh Torres, Business Applications Sales Executive at Microsoft to talk about how the Fynapse/Microsoft solution is helping organizations make the move to a cloud-based finance architecture.

Engaged with the broader Microsoft ecosystem: Throughout the year we had the pleasure of getting to know the wider Microsoft ecosystem! This included:

  • Establishing a partnership with HSO across North America and EMEA
  • Collaborating with KPMG on the KPMG Finance Managed Service offering leveraging Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Fynapse.
  • Attending our first Dynamics Community Summit
  • Joining the Microsoft Dynamics PartnerTalks webinar series with Rick McCutcheon
  • Working with Seer 365 to become an ISV partner in their GYDE365 application – a tool to help Microsoft Dynamics clients evaluate, build requirements and design a path to Dynamics 365

Microsoft Seller Roadshows and the virtual Aptitude Academy: We met with Microsoft sales teams in Fargo, Dublin, Sydney, Detroit, Rochester and Boston – as well as virtual teams across the world. We also launched Aptitude Academy, our one-stop location for Microsoft sellers to access Fynapse videos, demos and assets. If you are a Microsoft seller, reach out and we’ll get you access!

2024 – A look ahead

We’ve hit the ground running and are looking forward to continuing to ramp up activities in the days and months ahead.

Product innovation

We continue to work closely with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations product team to refine the integration and while also exploring some exciting use cases with Microsoft Copilot and PowerBI.

Securing joint clients

We’re excited about the value our joint Fynapse and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations solution can drive for organizations looking to move to autonomous finance. From driving full automation of data and reporting and building a foundation for AI in the finance function to supporting the migration to a cloud general ledger, empowering finance with user-friendly tools and lowering total cost of ownership, we can’t wait to announce new joint wins.

Upcoming meetings

We’re looking forward to joining the HSO team in New York in late January and then meeting with the Microsoft sales teams in Dallas and Zurich in mid-February alongside HSO.

Autonomous finance

Finally, we’re excited to collaborate with Microsoft and KPMG on an upcoming piece of research on autonomous finance and will be hosting a joint event in London on 19th March to present our findings and discuss the future of finance.
