What you'll do and what we offer

The key responsibilities are:

  • As a Functional Consultant, you may be asked to support either Delivery or Assure services for clients. You may have project responsibilities for configuring Aptitude Software’s (‘Aptitude’) products or you may be responsible for providing high-quality support of clients’ configured production solutions
  • You will be part of a larger team of consultants and client/partner resources working under the guidance of senior colleagues. You will take ownership of certain tasks, interacting with client personnel where necessary, whilst maintaining a strong delivery focus
  • Consultants provide high-quality support for clients’ configured production solutions. They will be expected to apply technical and functional skills as well as applying an innovative approach to perform an investigation of issues. The role will be required to work closely with clients and product support to address problems, follow support processes and work to meet the client’s Service Level Agreement, and build Aptitude’s reputation
  • You will be expected to follow best practices, as defined by senior colleagues, to ensure that the quality of our delivery and support is fit for purpose. With support from others, you will gain a good understanding of the Aptitude product(s) capabilities, liaising with project colleagues to match client requirements onto those capabilities
  • A key part of your role is to proactively continue your own personal development (keeping yourself updated with relevant knowledge and skills) as well as developing your understanding of how to best approach project work
  • You should be aligned to the evolving company culture and contribute towards internal communications as required. Delivery responsibilities may be performed on client premises and travel (in-country and/or overseas) may be required of you. Assure responsibilities will require time zone flexibility and the possibility of standby support during evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Although not an exhaustive list, a Functional Consultant must be proficient in the following Skills and Behaviours

Consultancy :

  • Rapidly gains a full understanding of the project stream that you are assigned to, understanding the tasks and timescales required
  • Takes responsibility for completing tasks to the required quality and seeking guidance where necessary
  • Seeks feedback on performance and contributes ideas to the team.
  • Strives to expand personal knowledge and skill set as part of the assignment

Accountancy:

  • Apply proficient knowledge of accounting principles and the various facets of Technical Accounting
  • Proficient understanding of double entry, FX concepts and period end processes
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of products / financial instruments from an accounting perspective

Implementation:

  • Awareness of delivery approaches, agile, waterfall or hybrid, and the different project stages
  • Demonstrates a foundational understanding of RDBMS concepts and an ability to interrogate data sets using database SQL
  • A capable practitioner of the Aptitude Product(s) being used and with a broad knowledge of the complete suite of Aptitude Products
  • With support:
  • Able to interpret requirements or specification and understand how this relates to software configuration
  • Able to work with the business to define accounting rules and related functional software configuration
  • Able to ensure defect occurrences are minimised by developing effective unit-test strategies

Availability and work shifts:

  • Work inside client’s business hours (whether CET or EST / PST)
  • Possible standby cover during weekends and/or bank holidays
