What you'll do and what we offer

As a Quality Engineer you will be accountable for ensuring that the features in your team are technically robust, free of user-detected faults and performs at the required scale for our clients.

To achieve this, you will be responsible for making sure that are testing is sufficiently strong and that all the agreed steps of the SDLC have been executed properly.

  • You will be expected to analyse, clarify, understand and follow business requirements and design test-cases that cover these requirements. You will also adopt a client-first view of the feature by examining failure modes that could occur and design a quality plan that mitigates these problems.
  • You will be expected to take ownership of and continue your personal development and progressing on achieving personal goals. You will help your less experienced teammates develop through providing mentoring and coaching to those individuals.
  • You will have a can-do attitude and promote open and honest communication. You will ask for and be open to receiving feedback from others and act on it accordingly. Equally, you will help give well shaped, meaningful feedback to others to help them grow.
  • You will be expected to expand your skills, building domain knowledge about both functional and technical aspects of Aptitude Software products. You will actively share your knowledge and experience with others and promote and encourage a safe learning environment.
  • You will work with other members of the quality team to help shape patterns and practices the team uses and promote a consistent way of working.
  • You may also be expected to represent your team in client calls around quality matters or with members of our senior leadership team.

What we're looking for

A Quality Engineer must be proficient in the following Skills:

  • Able to demonstrate proven theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of quality assurance of IT products developed preferably within an Agile environment.
  • To be proficient in creating a plan for which tests should be automatically implemented and those which require manual intervention.
  • Works autonomously taking up tasks and delivering high quality results, with only ad-hoc peers’ support & consultation.
  • To be fully aware of the QA tools and solutions used in the project and at the organisational level.
  • To be operative in using tools from the QA stack, be able to detect gaps in them and propose necessary enhancements where required.
  • Able to independently analyse detected bugs together with their professional reporting in Jira and stack trace analysis. To be familiar with the bug life cycle.
  • Can develop an accurate, complete and good-quality test report following best practices.
  • Able to read, accurately interpret and create test cases for product requirement in a timely manner.
  • Can accurately estimate effort required to complete the test session and/or the assigned task or tasks.
  • Propose improvements to the current testing processes and recommend new tools/technologies.
  • Has a good understanding of the functional aspects of at least one Aptitude Software product.
  • Able to create and maintain QA technical documentation.
  • Understands and evidences the key controls that form part of the company’s SOC process.
  • Can apply commercial awareness to all aspects of the role, with consideration of our target market needs, industry best practices and trends, and cost effectiveness of processes.
  • Advanced in English language (verbally and written).
  • Communicate effectively with respect, integrity and empathy.
