What you'll do

As a Technical Author you will be responsible for creating documentation and online content for our Subscription Management product.

You will craft content for a variety of audiences including product guides for users of Subscription Management, technical integration documentation, ‘how to’ documents and content to be used internally.

You will communicate with Software Developers, Quality Analysts, Product Owners and Product Managers to help shape all aspects of the content.

As a Technical Author you will work with relevant methodologies (primarily Agile) as part of a team; analysing, clarifying, understanding and following business requirements, working self-reliantly, independently and productively.

You will present a can-do attitude and promote open and honest communication, asking for and being open to receiving feedback from others and acting on it accordingly, as well as giving well shaped, meaningful feedback to others to help them grow.

You will be expected to expand your skills, building domain knowledge about both functional and technical aspects of Aptitude Software products, actively sharing your knowledge and experience with others and promoting and encouraging a learning environment. You will take ownership of and continue your personal development and progress on achieving personal goals.

What we're looking for

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to write in a clear, flexible, well-structured and concise manner to create a complete documentation suite for a given product, for instance: End User Guide, Configuration Guide, Installation and Administration Guides, User Help, Release Notes and others.
  • Able to research information about the project by interviewing subject matter experts, developers, product owners, product managers and by using the product features.
  • Ability to determine the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for readers’ greatest comprehension; writes and edits technical information accordingly. And can use drawings, diagrams and graphs that increase users’ understanding.
  • Ability to work in close co-ordination with Product Owner and scrum team on a day-to-day basis to develop timely and accurate documentation.
  • Able to collaborate actively with stakeholders to be able to convey information appropriately for a variety of audiences.
  • Can build and master the knowledge about products, services, technology and concepts to be able to create high-quality documentation.
  • Ability to challenge the developers and the organisation to follow the established process and roles within documentation creation.
  • Able to apply company documentation standards and track and fix documentation defects
  • Proficiently uses Microsoft Word, WordPress, Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Visio, and familiar with source saving software, Adobe Acrobat, SQL and JIRA.
  • Can apply commercial awareness to all aspects of the role, with consideration of our target market needs, industry best practices and trends, and cost effectiveness of processes.
  • Communicates effectively with respect, integrity and empathy.
